Iran recognizes the importance of forest health and biodiversity especially
under the impact of climate change and the increase of global trade in forest products.We support the Guide to implementation of phytosanitary standards in forestry which was presented by FAO on Tuesday during the session for Item 5.2 - Forest health and forest fire in the context of climate change. We feel that increased cooperation between foresters and plant health officials will help reduce pest problems such as the Agrilus beetle currently threatening Iran's oak forest.
